Hello Kind Stranger(s)

“Hello Kind Stranger(s)” is a daring and careful exploration of the truth we sometimes forget. We live in imagined communities, with imagined borders and imagined rules — with very real consequences.

But far from a cry to denounce Canadian constructs, this zine is a gentle and humorous reflection on what it means to be Canadian; reminding us that with great rights, come great responsibilities.

Issue 03 is somehow an ode to Tim Hortons and a call for reconciliation and a reminder of Canadian ideals and an invitation to live and live well.

Issue 03

Zine Shop

Each zine dances with different dynamics between individuals and the social structures that govern our lives. But whether we’re talking about capitalism or gender or nationhood, we never lose sight of what matters most; the joy, laughter and community that we’re fighting for.

  • This zine is about the truth we sometimes forget; that we live in imagined communities, with imagined borders and imagined rules — with very real consequences.

It’s about caring for the land, its people and craving a double double.

It’s about embracing what it means to be Canadian; reconciling that with great rights, come great responsibilities.

Issue 03: Hello Kind Stranger(s)

  • This zine is about striving to be both soft and boundaried while learning how to navigate situations where we’re unsure if we’re being (appropriately) forgiving or (embarrassingly) foolish.

It’s about remembering that most relationships are a summary of the choices we make together. So naturally, it’s also about taking responsibility for ourselves and learning how to begin making better choices.

Issue 02: A Sad Girl Manifesto

  • This zine is an exploration of our potential to exist beyond the relentless pressures of modern life, the spiritually oppressive nature of capitalism and the weight of social expectations.

It’s a collection of writing, journal entries and illustrations that confront the world as it is, but also creates space to imagine alternative paths to exist in ways that feel more restful, liberating, connected and free.
